Tropi-camp performances, Miami kitsch, and performative painting fuse to deconstruct Latin female identity and cultural stereotypes. As an instigator, performer provocateur, and feminist activist, I construct tawdry female avatars, interactive spectacles, and cultural exchanges that confront issues related to gender, class, race, and taste by wielding self-parodic humor, glitter nail polish, and 'pop-porn' excess. Attacking and reclaiming the stigma of the marginalized "other", the "Latin whore", I seize the power of pleasure, vulgarity, exchange, and social interaction as artistic tools for feminist intervention. Taking inspiration from Judith Butler, John Waters, Annie Sprinkle, and Riot Grrrl belligerence, I hijack pop culture & relational forms as vehicles for gender resistance.
